Kimono Scarf

Old and historic kimonos from Japan are recycled and given new life in one-of-a-kind silk scarves. Lovely old asian designs are pieced together with new silks that I’ve hand-dyed. Each scarf is reversible with contrasting patterns on each side. I hope in this new work to bring the essence of Wabi Sabi into my creations by re-using fabrics that would otherwise be unappreciated and discarded. Revering the fabrics for their age, their history and their weathered qualities and cracks and flaws, gives each scarf an aesthetic quality of timeless beauty. That’s Wabi Sabi.
